Broccoli Slaw with Chia and Hemp Seeds

Broccoli Slaw with chia and hemp seeds is a great tasting, nutritionally loaded salad recipe! Serve with grilled chicken for a healthy dinner or lunch.

This simple salad recipe made with julienned broccoli, carrots and red cabbage and super healthy sunflower, chia and hemp seed. I tossed it all together with my creamy Avocado Dressing.

What I like about this salad

In addition to this broccoli salad being super nutritious, it is easy to customize.

  • Add extra veggies like thinly sliced red onions or red peppers.
  • Nuts and seeds such as almonds or pumpkin seeds.
  • Freshly diced pears or apples, or dried fruit such as raisins or cranberries.
  • The dressing can be substituted with a creamy coleslaw dressing, or opt for a tangy vinaigrette like my Fresh Herb Italian.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup broccoli julienned or chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots julienned or chopped
  • 1/2 cup red cabbage shredded
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup avocado dressing

Instructions
 

  • Julienne the broccoli, carrots, shred the cabbage and toss together in a large bowl.
  • Sprinkle in the hemp, chia and sunflower seeds.
  • Toss with avocado dressing, or your favorite coleslaw dressing.

  1. I just bought a bag of hemp seeds for smoothies. I love the idea of adding them to this broccoli slaw.

    1. Chia seeds are great on all kinds of salad, I sprinkle them on my cereal, on peanut butter toast. Such an easy way to get extra nutrients.
